It was a remarkable Remembrance Day Weekend as Jim did signings at the American History Store, O'Rourke's Tavern, with the ALBG at Patriots Point and at the Gettysburg National Military Park Visitor Center.  That's a lot of signing!  It was great to see so many Civil War enthusiasts in town.

Erik Dorr from the Gettysburg Museum of History and Eric Lindblade of Ten Roads Publishing placed a wreath on the Sickles Marker on Remembrance Day Weekend.  Note the three cigars on top of the wreath.  Back row:  Michael Bennett, Commander of Sickles Camp 3, SUVCW, Jim Hessler, Eric Linblade, and Erik Dorr.  Front row kids Johnny, Alex, and Aimee.  Photo by Michele Hessler.

Jim would like to give a special thanks to those fellow Licensed Battlefield Guides and ALBG Associates who have supported Sickles at Gettysburg. Thanks!

Thanks to those who saw Jim Hessler at the National Civil War Museum on Sunday, November 8th.  Jim spoke about Sickles and signed books.  The National Civil War Museum is the only museum which portrays the entire story of the American Civil War.  Plan your visit today.  http://www.nationalcivilwarmuseum.org/index_1.php

A good time was had by all as we celebrated Dan Sickles' 190th birthday at the Gettysburg Museum of History.  A special thanks to Ten Roads Publishing for their sponsorship of this fun-filled and unusual event.

Jim Hessler and Jim Glessner of Ten Roads Publishing admire the Sickles birthday cake
provided by Erik Dorr of the Gettysburg Museum of History.

An incredibly busy Summer and Fall was spent promoting the book. Among the highlights:

Our friend and prolific author Scott Mingus Sr. invited us to speak at the York Civil War Round Table on October 21, 2009 at 7:00 p.m. Several friends were in attendance and a good Sickles discussion was had by all. Scott is the author of "Flames Beyond Gettysburg", Ten Roads' "Gettysburg Glimpses", and many other works.

Jim had a great time speaking at his hometown's Buffalo Civil War Round Table on September 24th.  Meetings are held on the 4th Thursdays of the month. The next time you're in Western New York, be sure to stop by.

Thanks to Peggy and Linda at Gallery 30, 30 York Street, Gettysburg for hosting us on "Gettysburg History Meets the Arts", August 7th, 2009.

Thanks to everyone (especially Denise Warthen) who made our July 4 appearance at the Gettysburg Foundation's Sacred Trust a huge success! We were one of the weekend's top sellers!

Jim Hessler visits with a new generation of Sickles fans at the GNMP Visitor Center on July 4, 2009

Thanks to Jim Glessner and Eric Lindblade (our designated #1 Fan!) for their continued support at the American History Store, 461 Baltimore St., Gettysburg. Jim and Eric have just launched Ten Roads Publishing.

Jim signs his first book for the American History Store's Jim Glessner while the great William Frassanito observes.

Don't forget about our recent "Sickles at Gettysburg" tour of the battlefield at the popular Gettysburg Daily:

Thanks to Butternut and Blue for allowing us to sign at this year's Civil War Collector's Show (June 27, 2009). Visit Butternut and Blue at http://www.butternutandblue.com/.

We had a great time touring the battlefield recently with Susan Rosenvold and Paula Cunningham from The Longstreet Society
http://www.longstreet.org/.  General Longstreet's life has been of long-time interest to us, and in addition to being Sickles' opponent at Gettysburg, Longstreet also became a close Sickles supporter after the war. Longstreet said that Sickles' move to the Peach Orchard won the battle for the Union!

We also recently met up with Ted Savas, J.D. Petruzzi, Steve Stanley, John Hoptak, and Jim Glessner for a night at the Reliance in Gettysburg. Read about it at J.D.'s blog:
